Q: What do you want readers to know about your writing?
A: I never write anything consistently, and my style is subject to change depending on which books I am currently reading.
Q: What do you want readers to know about you?
A: Eh, I’m boring. But you can talk to the stuffed figure of Smeagol on top of my bookshelf if you want. Then I’ll be boring, and you’ll be crazy.
Q: Why do you write? What motivates you to get your fingers on the keyboard?
A: I love getting my ideas on paper, and what helps me get writing is my ideas! A playlist helps too—I’ve been known to listen to certain songs on repeat if they got the creative juices flowing!
Q: How long have you been writing?
A: I’ve been thinking up stories since I was at least six or seven. As for actually writing them? Well, not until much more recently.
Q: Are there any books in particular that inspire your writing?
A: Usually my writing style leans toward whatever books I’ve been reading recently, but I have always been inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, N.D. Wilson, and more recently, G.K. Chesterton.
Q: Are you currently working on anything new?
A: Yes, of course! But I’m not going to tell you—you’ll have to wait!
Q: Describe your writing routine.
A: What routine?
Q: What are your other interests outside of writing?
A: I love reading, drawing, singing (badly), and hanging out with my friends. Writers with no other interests would be extremely boring writers.
Q: Does your faith play a part in your writing life? Why or why not?
A: It absolutely does. Even if I don’t actually mention Christ in my writings, I hope that He shines through every single piece I write. I shouldn’t try to hide my light under a bushel.
Q: If you could use one word to describe your writing life, what would it be? Do you have a favorite word in the dictionary or thesaurus?
A: Sporadic. It only seems consistent because I schedule my posts way ahead of time—I literally have a post scheduled for three months from now. And no, I love too many words to pick a favorite.
Q: What was the inspiration behind your last piece of writing? Where can we find it?
A: My latest short story–hehe–was inspired by a group of very unique friends of mine. One is undyingly fond of waffles, I had recently decided to write a short story about waffles, and . . . it sprang from my fingertips, with a little assistance from some friends. It was published on June 23. Here is the story:
Q: Do you have plans for future books?
A: Maybe. But I need to learn how to plot out what’s going to happen before writing it—last time I tried a serial it was a bit of a “hot mess.”
Q: What are themes and morals do you like to explore in your writing?
A: I don’t usually consciously incorporate themes, but throughout a lot of my recent writing, I can see unconscious themes of courage, chivalry, and beauty.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
A: My younger self was so stupid I’d probably hit her with a really heavy book or something.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to new writers, what would it be?
A: Don’t be afraid of constructive criticism. Grow, and learn from your failures.
Q: Who are some of your favorite authors?
A: I believe I mentioned earlier, but Tolkien, Lewis, N.D. Wilson, and Chesterton.
Q: What are some of your favorite genres?
A: I read anything and everything.
Q: Do you have a top 5 favorites for books?
A: You monster. Why would you ask that?
Q: Do you have any tips for writer’s block?
A: No, I still have that problem.
Q: Any final thoughts?
A: Thank you for the invite! I’m no professional, by far, but I enjoyed answering (maybe had a little too much fun). God bless!
